SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:

Eagle County Schools (ECS) is seeking a Systems Administrator who is a self-starter, lifelong learner and has an interest in helping manage ECS’ systems while contributing to improve the district’s security posture.  You'll work in a professional environment under the guidance of our IT Operations Manager. The successful candidate has a positive team-oriented attitude, an eye for detail, a passion for growth, and thrives in a demanding and rewarding environment.

 

The district’s application ecosystem consists of an array of on-prem and cloud solutions that are common to K-12 districts. 

 

REPORTS TO:

IT Operations Manager 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:

 

  • Assist with Design and implementation of key production business systems for the District.  Assist with the troubleshooting issues with Vendor.
  • Serves as a point of contact for the district's production business systems. Provide daily help desk support for central office staff, school staff, and administrators.  Support includes: access issues, advanced queries, client server troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for keeping key production business systems up to date with current system and product patches, updates, and releases.  
  • Member of Incident Response Team
  • Assists with management of EDR tools
  • Assists with all activities necessary to ensure that all student and staff systems are secure and accessible only to individuals with rights to those systems.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of all components and data requirements of the district production business systems (Evaluation, Employee data, Student Transportation, and etc.).
  • Champion cybersecurity and privacy best practices to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Assist in the design and build of secure network and server infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain other security specific hardware and software as assigned.
  • Assist in implementation and validation of procedural documentation and system security standards.
  • Participate in integration of security controls into new systems and applications. Assists with project initiatives for security services and implementations.
  • Research product and technical data for ongoing projects.
  • Performs log analysis for correlation and identification of security related events.
  • Assist and/or lead in incident investigations as well as troubleshooting and remediation for any service disrupting technical issues.
  • Perform a backup role in information and records requests as needed.
  • Address/Resolve all service requests per SLA requirements.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities to improve overall skill set and meet review objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist other teams in the Technology Department when needed in support of student and staff goals.  These functions may include helping repair student devices, troubleshoot basic IT functions and help teachers with technology in the classroom.  These skills will be trained however the desired candidate would welcome these opportunities to grow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree with a major pertinent to the position requirements: System Administration, Information Security, Computer Science or related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of working alone with minimal oversight
  • Experience evaluating requirements documents and validating systems against those guidelines

 

 PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with Microsoft Server & Client environments (secure configurations, hardening)
  • Experience with e-mail systems, end-point and cloud based applications, and MDM technologies. 
  • Experience managing infrastructure operations in alignment  ITIL 4 ITSM practices
  • Familiarity with implementing and managing security policies and procedures in alignment with the NIST CyberSecurity Framework
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Desire to make continuous improvement to existing practices and methodologies
  • Strong technical documentation skills
