HIRING SALARY RANGE: $25.25 - 30.30 per hour
POSITION SALARY RANGE: $25.25 - 40.40 per hour
SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Trains safe and qualified District bus drivers and Activity operators in all aspects of student transportation. Assists in the Supervision all other trainers.

ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:
- Perform all bus driver responsibilities.
- Develop and deliver classroom instruction, road training, and testing for new drivers. Update training, retraining and skill-maintenance training for regular and substitute drivers to ensure routes are operated safely, economically and on time
- Develop and deliver classroom instruction, road training and testing for activity operators.
- Assist Director with performance evaluation of bus driver trainers and bus aides.
- Select and apply appropriate training methods for training assignments.
- Identify and troubleshoot problems and issues on bus routes and provide recommendations for appropriate resolutions to Director and/or Supervisor.
- Observe and monitor daily driver activity. Inform the Director of Transportation and make recommendations concerning safe driving practices, vehicle maintenance, and student management.
- Maintain training records in accordance with CDE directives, regulations and District Policy.
- Assist Director of Transportation in driver evaluations.
- Maintain personal and professional training and experience to increase skills.
- Conduct parent-student safety training.
- Instruct safe rider-ship training, orientation and Public Safety programs for students and the public, as requested.
- Perform driver assessments and retraining.
- Participate in driver, parent and student bus suspension conferences when Director is unavailable.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and communicate requirements of Special Needs transportation.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current laws, codes, and regulations
- Research and recommend revisions to transportation department policies and procedures.
- Attend all driver committee and operation staff meetings to provide technical support and mediation for the committees.
- Perform interviews and hiring of transportation employees
- Assist Director of Transportation at all driver in-service meetings.
- Conduct workshops for trainers on all federal, state and district policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Meet and maintain all bus driver qualifications.
- 4 years of experience as bus driver or equivalent, including 1 year in ECSD.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, commercial driver's license rules and regulations, Colorado motor vehicle codes, CDE operational rules, ECSD route conditions, fleet equipment, weather and road conditions, ECSD transportation policies, FCC regulations.
- Demonstrate leadership, interest, ability, and desire to train bus drivers.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills (both written and oral).
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with adults in a learning environment.
- 2 years of experience as a trainer preferred
- Ability to coordinate all aspects of training programs.
