HIRING SALARY RANGE: $20.00- $24.00 per hour

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION: Welcome and provide information to parents, staff and community members visiting the counseling office with a strong emphasis on customer service. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student and staff databases. Perform clerical and secretarial duties to coordinate meetings, trainings, parent events as well as support internal and external communication.
SUPERVISED BY: Principal & Assistant Principals of Battle Mountain High School.
ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:
- Perform receptionist duties: answer telephone, provide information to callers, take messages, forward phone calls as appropriate, greet visitors to office and provide information or directions with a strong focus on customer service.
- Perform routine word processing related to department functions.
- Maintain cumulative filing systems related to areas of responsibility.
- Record notes/minutes for department meetings, distribute and maintain records.
- Set up, maintain and archive files and sort a variety of documents, which include sensitive and confidential information.
- Compose routine correspondence, such as monthly news letter, reports and update lists.
- Update, publish and distribute parent communication documents.
- Sort and distribute district mail.
- Coordinate and communication parent/staff training, and coordination of department wide meetings.
- Process and accurately input data into web based systems.
- Assist with staff recruitment and selection.
- Perform a variety of duties using various types of office equipment.
- Compile and complete necessary student and staff information directories, and reports required by the district and regulating agencies.
- Coordinate communication between counseling services and programs as well as district personnel.
- Perform other duties assigned by the department director.

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years previous secretarial experience.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service skills with both internal and external clients.
- Strong knowledge of computer: keyboarding, database, spreadsheet and word processing.
- Successful experiences working with confidential information in an office setting.
- Problem-solving capabilities and ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.
- Strong organization and record keeping skills and systems.
- Ability to prioritize and effectively manage time.
- Bilingual capability preferred.
