SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

As the Early Childhood Program Support Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and implementing essential services for children and families in our programs. This includes a wide range of services such as health, mental health, dental, nutrition, and other personalized support based on the unique needs of each family.

 


SUPERVISED BY: Director of Early Childhood Department

 

ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS: 

  • Conduct home visits with each family twice per year focused to establishing relationships and developing a system of support.
  • Complete Family Needs Assessment annually with each assigned family within the first 45 days of the school year.
  • Develops Family Partnership Agreement with each family (setting goals, monitoring progress, and making referrals as needed).
  • Assists family in obtaining identified services or resources on an ongoing basis.
  • Link children and families to health, dental and mental health services, obtain required health, dental and mental health services and track health, dental and mental health follow-up.
  • Maintains a formal system of follow-up of family referrals to community service and health-related agencies.
  • Help coordinate, and facilitate family trainings and meetings based on Family needs.
  • Supports families to advocate by attending all Parent Teacher Conferences and Special Education Meetings.
  • Serves as a liaison to between programs and families as needed.
  • Assures within 10 days of enrollment that families receive an orientation to program.
  • Supports Policy Council by conducting annual election of officers and attending Policy Council meetings based on annual schedule.
  • Organizes a calendar of family activity projects and meetings.
  • Works with site teams to provide parent communication and resources and assures minutes of Policy Council meetings are posted at each site.
  • Assists Registrar and ERSEA manager in maintaining full center enrollment at all times by:
    • Developing and implementing an annual recruitment plan.
    • Completes enrollment packets and determine eligibility of families as assigned.
    • Based on the selection and enrollment policy, notify eligible families of openings.
    • Completes required program enrollment paperwork, and helps ensure records are up-to-date in family file.
  • Reviews monthly attendance reports and follows up with any family below 85% attendance.
  • Assists families and Health/Family Services Manager in scheduling dental and physical examinations as well as completing all required screenings.
  • Attend monthly Kid Talk (mental health discussions) with sites teams to collaborate on service delivery.
  • Oversees record and reporting of health and mental health services for each family.
  • Maintains family data base with needed information for Program Information Report.
  • Assists in the implementation and compiling of the program Self-Assessment plan.
  • Maintains family resources materials in Family Service Offices.
  • Have scheduled time at sites monthly, build relationships with preschools, and assist with requests for support and translation.
  • Attends meetings related to Health, Family & Community Partnerships/Family Involvement, including:
    • Family Service Team meetings (biweekly or as scheduled).
    • Early Childhood Department wide meetings.
    • Early Childhood Committee meetings.
    • In-service training, conferences, and workshops.
    • Community Partner meetings.
  • Maintains working knowledge of the Head Start program, the Head Start Performance Standards; State of Colorado's Universal Preschool Program, state childcare licensing standards; child abuse reporting laws; and other state, federal and local standards and regulations related to programs serving young children.
  • Coordinates with staff from all service areas to assure a team approach to daily operations.
  • Continue personal training and development of professional skills.
  • Performs other job-related tasks as requested by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.

  • Credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field. 
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish, with the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships.
  • Knowledge of Head Start is preferred. 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to serve both English and Spanish Speaking Families.
  • Possess a valid Colorado Driver’s license.
  •  Strong computer skills including use of multiple applications such as word, excel, google platform and ability to utilize data base for record and reporting.
